I’ve learned that having an evening routine has helped me wake up earlier and be ready for the next day.
Before my evening routine starts, I have stopped drinking any caffeinated beverages by 2 pm.
I also make sure not to do anything work-related after 6 pm unless I’m subbing for an instructor at the pilates studio.
The following is my routine that I follow almost daily.
6 pm – 6:30 pm:
Get ready for bed.
Take a shower.
Wash face.
Make sure the next day’s outfit is ready to go.
6:30 pm – 9:00 pm:
Prepare dinner.
Eat dinner.
Watch a show or a movie.
Wash dishes.
Quality time with husband.
I may do one of the following after dinner:
Read.
Play Animal Crossing on my Nintendo Switch.
Build Lego.
Work on a puzzle.
Journal.
8:30 pm: My iPhone goes into Sleep Mode. Social Media and email apps “close” until the following day. The screen dims.
9 pm:
Brush teeth.
Floss.
9:15 – 11 pm
Quality time with husband.
Read to sleep.
Fall asleep before 11 pm.
This routine really helps me to wake up naturally between 5 to 6 am. It also sets me up for a productive day ahead.
